CTET Notification 2024, Apply Online, Check Eligibility Criteria and Details

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) July Notification on March 7, 2024. Interested candidates can submit their applications for the examination starting from March 7 onwards. The last date to apply for the online applications is April 2, 2024.

CTET is a national-level examination conducted to qualify teachers for Classes I to VIII in central government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other schools. Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Exam Pattern

The CTET exam consists of two papers:

  • Paper I (Primary Stage): Candidates need to teach classes I to V. The subjects covered include Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies.
  • Paper II (Elementary Stage): Candidates need to teach classes VI to VIII. The subjects covered include Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, and Language II. Candidates must choose between Mathematics and Science or Social Studies/Social Science based on their interest.

The eligibility criteria for CTET are as follows:

  • For Classes I-V (Paper I): Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and completed or be in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • For Classes VI-VIII (Paper II): Graduates who have completed or are in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) are eligible, as well as graduates with at least 50% marks and in the first year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

CTET Qualifying Marks

The CTET certificate is valid for a lifetime, with a validity period of 7 years from the date of declaration of its result. The qualifying marks for CTET are 60% for General category candidates and 55% for SC/ST/OBC/Other Reserved Categories.

The application fee for CTET is ₹1000 for only Paper I or II and ₹1200 for both papers for General/OBC(NCL) category candidates, while for SC/ST/PwD category candidates, the fee is ₹500 for only Paper I or II and ₹600 for both papers.
